Blue Devils topple Everett in ICC clash
Jarrett Taneyhill continued to set records for the Blue Devils against Everett.

Although the Blue Devils were able to put another win under their belt with a 26-8 victory over the Everett Warriors on Friday, they still seem to be facing the same difficulties from week to week.
Despite two runs by Duke Brunner for two touchdowns in the first half, the Blue Devils still haven’t completely established their run game. The Devils did, however, prove a worthy adversary on defense and held the Warriors until the fourth quarter when Derek Lasch caught a 51-yard pass from Macen Akers.
“Without our defense holding them when they were within 10 yards of scoring, that game would have been completely different,” said Jarrett Taneyhill. “Our run game is slowly getting better and better. I think that we will be able to improve each week. The line has been working hard at practice and it is showing.”
Taneyhill had a nother record-setting night, establishing a new BA team record for passing yards with 11 of 19 completions for 258 yards, including two touchdowns to Brendan Kowalski. Taneyhill met the BA record for top touchdown passes with five against Claysburg-Kimmel last week.

So far in the season Taneyhill has completed 52 of 87 passes with a total of 930 yards for 10 touchdowns and has two interceptions.
“I try not to think of records while I’m playing but afterwards it feels nice,” said Jarrett. “It’s not just my record, either, because everyone is catching the ball and the line has to block to make it possible.”
The Blue Devils started with a run by Brunner to score in the first quarter.
In the second quarter BA came back strong and scored with a 65-yard pass from Taneyhill to Kowalski right on the heels of a blocked kick to make it 14-0. That was followed by a four yard run from Brunner and a two point conversion of Taneyhill to Friedenberger to put the Devils in the lead with a score of 20-0.
“We knew their kicker was pretty good, but they’re young, so we worked hard on plays like that to block,” said Coach Hayes.
After a scoreless third Kowalski caught a 68-yard pass from Taneyhill for a final BA touchdown of the night. The Warriors were able to score in the forth with a 51-yard pass from Akers to Lasch and two point conversion to make the final score of 26-8.
Friday was not only a big win for the Blue Devils but also an eventful evening for the community. Maddie Shura and other children battling cancer were recognized at half time. Maddie even got to walk out with the football players and cheerleaders before the game.
“Maddie Shura has such a big heart,” said senior Duke Brunner. “It is tough to see someone so great and so young going through something life threatening. As a team, it was on our mind to play for that cause.”
