The junior high speech team opened strong in 2016 with outstanding individual performances at it’s first two meets.

The students who competed were: Jaylee Shuke, Dakota Woomer, Zach Miller, Caylee Anne Taylor, Sophia Nelson, Ethan Brown, Sarah Berkowitz, Maddison Boyer, Lauren Young, Riley Endress, Caroline Nagle, Emma Corrado, Zach Amato, Jayce Miller, Alexandra Diamond, Madalyn Mccloskey, Caedon Poe, Kami O’Shell, Hunter Gregg, Haley Campbell, Noah Patton, and Madison Otto.

Haley Campbell and Hunter Gregg did extremely well in Duo, placing first at an October 26 meet at Rockwood, while Jayce Miller placed second in Drama.

“I feel my kids did very well in the first meet, even though it’s the tough because it’s the first one,” said speech team coach Mrs. Kathy Taylor.

For the second meet in Somerset, on November 9, things turned out just as well. Noah Patton and Caedon Poe were excellent in Duo, placing first. Sophia Nelson and Jayce Miller placed second in Duo, as well.

The speech team has another big meet approaching on November 22.

“I feel my kids are well prepared for the last meet on November 22, but it will be very tough because the third meet is the hardest,” said Mrs. Taylor.
