On Tuesday November 22, the junior high Speech league competed in Indiana, and eleven students placed.

Leading the way in first place in duo drama were Caedon Poe and Noah Patton.

“This activity gives students a chance to overcome their fears of speaking in public. Plus, it’s fun,” said Caedon

Other place winners included Sophia Nelson and Jayce Miller, second place in Duo Drama; Riley Endress, third place in persuasive.

The team was younger than most other competitors, and Coacuh Kathy Taylor said most of the students improved their public speaking skills throughout the season.

Mrs. Taylor said she was happy with her team’s overall performance over three three-meets.

“The team represented Bellwood well with 11 of 15 participants placing in this meet and almost every member placing at least one time over the three events,” Mrs. Taylor said.  “Our team was younger than most they competed against this year as we did not have any ninth grade participants.  Our goal is to fill the remaining 5 spots for next year.”
