Bellwood-Antis football had a great season this year, finishing 10-2, but for some players it has gotten even better.

Quarterback Jarrett Taneyhill has been selected into the first-team  All-State football team by westernpafootball.net. He was one of four Blue Devils to earn All-State recognition by various publications.

Three other players were honorable mentions for westernpafootball.net, including DT Austin Desch, WR Ethan McGee, and WR Brendan Kowalski.

Desch was announced on the second team of PA Football News.  Austin had an outstanding season with 97 total tackles, 60 unassisted tackles, and 6 sacks.  Austin played a major role in the past 2016 season, he helped pursue the goal of a ICC championship, unfortunately the team came a bit short but every player gave it their all and played their hearts out.

“I feels like my work paid off,” said Desch. “I was surprised and happy when I heard about it. It seemed like everything I worked for all summer paid off. If I ever made a mistake the team backed me up by supporting me.”

Taneyhill has put in tremendous amounts of dedication and hard work to accomplish this award.

“It was a great honor to make All-State, it is just another bonus to what was already a great season,” said Taneyhill.

The whole entire varsity football team had a great season this year, and every player helped Jarett with this accomplishment, he said.  The team advanced to the District 6 2-A semifinals and had an undefeated ICC season at 9-0.

“I wouldn’t have been able to do this without my teammates.  Brendon Kowalski had a great year along with all of the receivers.  Our line gave me time to find those guys.  Without them none of this is possible,” said Taneyhill.

Jarett broke numerous records, finishing the single-season with a school-record 2,080 passing yards and 23 touchdown passes.  In two seasons at a starter he has broken the all-time passing record at Bellwood-Antis.
