STEM night is going to be held May 11 from 5:30 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. It will be in the Middle School gym and cafeteria.

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Students and teachers are coming together to show off their science projects for 7th graders or high schoolers preview to their PJNHS science project.

High school science teacher, Ms. Alice Flarend, who helps organize the event every year says,

“The event shows the connection with wat we are doing at school and jobs that require STEM, also the post-secondary education needed for jobs in STEM,” she said.

In addition to their usual display of student projects and how they make up a bigger picture, this year they are having companies come as well.

“We have something different this year we are having outside people, companies like Sheetz, who do a lot with STEM and getting them to explain how important these types of education is important to their company,” said Ms. Flarend.

There will be opportunities for families who are attending STEM night such as hands on experiments and Richard Flarend from PSU will be discussing Physics along with teachers and students displaying projects from various grade levels.

Students who are participating at STEM night will be displaying their projects done in their science classes throughout the year.
