After starting the season off with a 0-4 start, the girls’ softball team has bounced back and are now sitting with an even record of 7-7 after its 7-0 win last night against Williamsburg.

B-A Freshman Haley Shmidt held Williamsburg scoreless as the Lady Devils cruised to a victory. Shmidt also hit in 2 of B-A’s 7 runs.

In the fourth inning already up 1-0 the B-A girls erupted for 4 runs, and after that, there was no turning back.  Bellwood then scored 1 run in the fifth inning and 1 run in the 6th inning.

Walks took away hopes of Williamsburg making a comeback as they walked 10 batters throughout the game.

Coming down the final stretch of the season the girls will have five tough games against Moshannon Valley, Everett, Claysburg, West Branch, and a non-league match up against Tyrone.

B-A will need to secure a few more wins to get a spot in the District 6 playoffs.

The lady Devils next game will be tomorrow, may 4 at Moshannon Valley.
