Zac Salomie salutes the crowd after winning the humorous category at the 2017 poetry slam.

The B-A English Department held its 14th annual poetry slam on Friday, May 5, and several students took home awards for their performance.

In all, 29 performances hit the stage, performing poems in one of three categories: individual, duo and humorous.

Senior Zac Salomie won in the humorous category for his poem about the current state of politics and complaining in America, seniors Addison Clemente and Grace Misera won the group category for their poem about working in a sub shop, and freshman Kaleah Smith took for in the individual category for her poem about different perspectives on crushing.
