Blue Devil baseball won its twelfth straight Saturday afternoon after defeating Bishop Guilfoyle 5-4 in the first round of the District 6 AA playoffs.

B-A jumped out to a 4-0 lead early in the ball game until BG was able to crawl back, tying the game in the fourth inning.

It took a walk off single in the last inning for the devils to capture their first round victory. Jack Showalter got walked as the lead off, but was then pinched run by Blake Johnston. Brendan Kowalski was able to advance Johnston to second after a hit to center field.

Junior Trent Walker was able to put the ball in play hitting a ground ball to third base. BG’s third basemen committed a throwing error trying to get a fore out at second base. The error led to Johnston getting around third and scoring the winning run for B-A.

Nevin Wood started on the mound for B-A, but the game was closed by Sawyer Kline who threw for three innings, only allowing two hits.

Kline was able to get the devils out of a jam in the fourth inning when the bases were loaded, coming up huge for the B-A.

Joey Padula and Jordan McCracken each collected an RBI lifting B-A to victory in which they will play Blairsville Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the Semi-final round.
