On Thursday, May 26, the the Bellwood-Antis School District held its first Cow Patty Bingo at Memorial Stadium.

Squares were painted on the turf and patties were dropped to raise financial support for the Bellwood-Antis School District Foundations, which provides teacher grants for school projects.

It is projected that the district acquired around of $6,000 from ticket sales alone after payment of the project’s overhead.

Kathy Taylor took home to top prize, winning $1,000 after one of the two cows relieved itself in her square. Tom Martin won the second prize of $500, and later donated the sum to the Bellwood-Antis Public Library.

Although the turn out wasn’t as great as expected BASD Superintendent Dr. McInroy is still pleased with the amount of money that the district was able to raise.

“It’s great to see how much money we were able to raise for the district in only three hours,” said McInroy.

Dr. McInroy said it is uncertain if the district will follow up next year making the Cow Patty Bingo an annual event. However, because of the many contributors, the fundraiser was a success.
