Duke Brunner had three touchdowns against Moshannon Valley.

Up until last week, Bellwood-Antis was searching for a running game when senior Duke Brunner stepped up with three touchdowns and (along with Sawyer Kline) ran for more than 100 yards against Moshannon Valley.

For his efforts, Brunner has been named the BluePrint’s Athlete of the Week.

On the season, Brunner leads the team with 331 rushing yards on 71 carries.

Aside from football, Brunner plays ice hockey. He’s a part of C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team), he hangs out with his family and friends, and he is a part of the Trump Campaign.

To make sure he stays on top of things, Duke makes sure he listens to his coaches and watches the players in NFL for inspiration.

It’s the best feeling to be a part of a great school and such a supportive community.

“I’ll watch the highlights of, say, Walter Payton and see what he did to be the best he could,” he said.

Duke loves being a part of Bellwood’s school and community

“It’s the best feeling to be a part of a great school and such a supportive community; it makes football so much better, and there is nothing as good as playing alongside your friends,” said Duke.

Brunner has some big personal goals and goals for his team.

“This season I would like to rush for over 1,000 yards and score over 15 touchdowns,” he said. “Our team goals are to win the ICC and win a District 6 Championship.”

Very devoted to his team, Duke thanked his teammates for his 100-yard game.

“I would like to thank Sawyer Kline, Adam Bowers, Chris Wertman, Ryan Moore, Jarryd Kissell, Matt Lardieri, Noah Aiken, Jason Shade, and the rest of the offensive line for that achievement,” he said.

Duke will be back in action Friday when the Devils take on 4-1 Williamsburg.
