Soccer, cross country fall; volleyball wins again

The Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis girls soccer team took a hard loss to the Central Lady Dragons 6-1 on the road Tuesday.

Riley D’Angelo had the lone goal for the Golden Eagles.

“Having a young team is tough because we don’t have a lot of experience, but the upperclassmen try to help us out as much as possible. I think that yesterday was good for us because we can learn from and fix our mistakes to help us prepare for the future,” said freshman Jaydyn Shuke.

The Lady Eagles are now 2-5 in the Mountain League.

BA Cross Country loses to Southern Fulton

Both boys and girls cross country teams lost yesterday to Southern Fulton.

The boys lost 19-40 and the girls lost 22-33.

Robert VanKirk placed fourth for the boys and Jenna Bartlett placed first for the girls.

VanKirk set a new personal record time in yesterday’s race with a finish in 18:53.

“It was sad to see the team lose, but I was able to get my personal best trying to keep up with the other team,” said Vankirk.

The B-A boys cross country team is now 4-3 and the girls are now 5-2.

Volleyball wins again

The Bellwood-Antis girls’ volleyball took another win in three against Juniata Valley Tuesday night.

The Lady Devils have won the majority of their matches while only needing three sets to do it each time out.

It’s been two weeks since the Lady Devils have played more than three sets.

“It’s difficult knowing that if we would have pushed ourselves harder we could have been undefeated. It feels good knowing that our team can work together to have such a great score and a well-played game,” said freshman Bella Kies.

Abby Luensmann had 18 assists to help take the win.

Sophie Damiano, Lindsey Southworth and Kamryn Mercer all had a total of 6 kills.

The varsity volleyball team is 9-1.
