McCracken shines on twirling circuit

Mikayla McCracken took several awards at the Happy Valley Classic.

Junior Mikayla McCracken has been working hard and performing exceptionally well in her state-wide twirling circuit.

She has competed in various competitions, such as the Congressional cup at Mount St. Mary’s University in Maryland, taking home first place ribbons regularly.

“I’m slowly getting better at each competition I go to,” said Mikayla.

Two weeks ago Mikayla also participated in the Happy Valley Classic and PA state team championships, placing first and fifth in the strut intermediate 16+, fourth and fifth in the solo intermediate 16+, and finally second the two-baton intermediate 16+.

Three weeks ago Mikayla competed at the NBTA PA State Championship and placed first and eighth in the intermediate strut age 16+ event. She also took third and sixth in the intermediate 16+ and fifth in the beginner two baton 16+.

“I’m improving in the area of difficulty,” said Mikayla, whohas moved up a level to compete this year. “I’m doing four-spins and double illusions.”

Mikayla still loves to compete and works hard to perform better.

“I would like to win the pageant at North Atlantic Regionals or Miss Majorette and go to nationals. I’ll be competing against a lot of teammates and they deserve it as much as I do,” said Mikayla.
