School nurses have a job that might seem the same as librarians: everyone thinks it’s an easy job where you can just sit back and relax, but school nurses deal with a lot every day.
They have to handle fake sickness, germs, injuries, paperwork, and they are there to help save lives if a kid is having an allergic reaction. School nurses are always there when you aren’t feeling well, and they will do whatever they can to make you feel better.
That’s why this week’s Unsung Hero is Mrs. Kelly Hoover, also known as Nurse Hoover.
Nurse Hoover has been working as a school nurse for eight years, and she is here from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. every day.
Her job may appear easy on the outside, but she puts a lot of work into it.
“The hardest part of my job is keeping up with paperwork and properly diagnosing kids,” said Nurse Hoover.
The students here at Bellwood-Antis love Nurse Hoover.
“She is always there to help students, so they can have a better learning experience in school,” said freshman Samuel Gourmont.
Nurse Hoover loves what she does, and she loves the students here at B-A.
“My favorite thing about what I do is interacting with the students,” said Nurse Hoover.
