ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Thor Schmittle

Last weekend the Blue Devil football team took a victory against Moshannon Valley with a score of 48 – 6. Senior Thor Schmittle led the Devils in rushing with a total of 11 carries, 143 yards, and 3 touchdowns.
Thor, so far this season, has a total of 9 touchdowns and 450 yards. Although he has no plans at this time for football in the next level, he thinks his season is going great.
For this reason Thor has been chosen as the BA BluePrint’s athlete of the week. Thor has only about 375 yards left until he reaches 1000 yards for his career.
“I couldn’t ask for a better start to my senior year,” said Schmittle, commenting on his current season.
Thor expects that his team will get better as they go throughout their season. He knows that there will be some tough teams but understands that you can’t win every single game.
“This season takes up a lot of time and requires my dedication. It has made me tougher and more able to persevere,” said Schmittle.
