Bellwood-Antis senior Tina Hollen has yet again become the Mountain League’s Most Valuable Player in tennis, making it three in a row.

Hollen, playing for the Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis co-op team, was awarded the MVP three weeks ago at the league’s fall sports award banquet in Tyrone.

At the same ceremony, B-A soccer players Blake and Corey Johnston were named to the Mountain League boys first team all-star teams, while Riley D’Angelo made the second team.

In a stellar senior season, she became a District 6 2A singles champion, was a part of Tyrone’s team title in the Mountain League, and qualified for the PIAA championships.

“It’s such a relief and it’s something I’ll never forget. I can officially say that I’ve accomplished all the goals I’ve set for myself in high school tennis,” said Hollen.

Hollen’s amazing hardworking and determined attitude have gotten her where she is now. She said, “it takes tons of preparing weather that means hitting, running, or lifting.”

It’s hard to compare awards, and Hollen said all are special, though her first, as a sophomore, stood out.

“I was so honored to have been chosen as MVP for the first time when the year before I hadn’t even made second team all-star,” said Hollen.

Although Hollen will be graduating this year, she is very pleased with the way her tennis career has gone.

“I’m happy to be ending my career like this,” she said.
