The Blue Devil football team made a comeback last Friday against Glendale, knocking the Vikings down with a 47-6 victory, setting aside the tough lose against rival Tyrone one week earlier.

Overall B-A kept quarterback Glendale Jacob Jasper contained and did not allow him many open breakout opportunities.

“I thought we did a good job overcoming our loss from last week,” said Blue Devil coach Nick Lovrich.  “We watched the film Saturday and moved on from it.  If we spent too much time dwelling on the loss, we would not been able to focus on Glendale.”

The Devils led after one quarter, despite allowing Jasper to have 156 passing yards. Troy Walker’s touchdown run helped Bellwood take the led 6-0 with Alex Schmoke’s extra point making it 7-0.

Glendale then struck back with Jasper throwing a 65-yard touchdown pass to Shane McMurray, making the score 7-6, .

In the second quarter Shawn Wolfe hit Andrew Hale with a 59-yard touchdown pass.

At the half Bellwood led 33-6. Even though Wolfe got hurt in the 2nd quarter of the game, second string, Trevor Miller comes in for Bellwood before the half and keeps the ball rolling.

Miller completed 4 of his 6 passes for 84 yards and did not have a turnover.

“The guys did a good job working on finishing plays and we performed better as a whole team Friday night,” Coach Lovrich said.  “I was pleased with our effort throughout the week at practice, and our performance on Friday night was the reward for all that hard work.
