Bellwood-Antis tech specialists have been working on the media center for three years. As the 2018-2019 school year begins their plans are coming to fruition.

Every year the media center has been altered and improved to ensure that every grade, fifth through twelfth, has their needs addessed.

“When we expanded it, it had to be something that’s useful for everyone in the middle school and the highschool, whether it was a research library or working and collaborating with your friends,” said Mr. Tim Trexler, the media center adviser, when asked what was the motivation to expand the media center.

It’s supposed to be a three-year project. There are still some things we would like to do, for example get some new furniture, but pretty much we’re on our final phase of redesign.

Ms. Jamie Forshey, B-A’s Director of Instructional Technology & Media, said that this past summer was the third phase of the media center’s construction. She explained, “It’s supposed to be a three-year project. There are still some things we would like to do, for example get some new furniture, but pretty much we’re on our final phase of redesign.”

This past summer, the custodians removed all of the computers and now there is a laptop cart. That is just one of the renovations made for this year. Another renovation is that the furniture has been moved to the center of the room and the floor is now all polished concrete.

Students are loving the updated media center! Halee Ridgway and Sydney Lechner both agreed that its very nice, but they’d like to see more couches. Tori Mauk said she loves the new flooring and that its air conditioned.

The media center also has some new drink options for this upcoming school year. All that is known so far is that there will be two new coffee options that will be available very soon.

Ms. Forshey and Mr. Trexler both said that even though this is the final stage they are always looking for improvements and new additions will be made if they came up. There will always be little projects and room for improvement!
