Jenna Bartlett finished 111 out of 215 runners on Saturday at the PIAA cross country championships in Hershey.

She ran a time of 22:57.

While it wasn’t the senior’s best time of the season, she enjoyed the race entirely saying, ” I couldn’t stop smiling the whole race. I never ran with so many runners. My favorite part was the hills.”

Although the weekend was rainy in general, Jenna said the weather was okay, but the weather made the course muddy in certain spots.

“There were places where you had to be careful not to slip and fall,” she said.

Jenna had qualified for the PIAAs with a top-20 finish at the District 6 championships a week earlier.

Her mother, Mrs. Carol Bartlett, who teaches English at B-A, said she was hoping Jenna would make states because last year she missed it by one spot and it devastated her.

Jenna, meanwhile, said her parents are the backbone of her running career, having supported her since the start. She and her father a frequent running partners.

The speed training and hill work she did on the off season, along with strength work at Dorman’s, must have been worth it. Jenna never lost an ICC dual meet as a senior and at one point broke the 22-minute barrier.
