A study of non-traditional careers was just one of the projects undertaken by students on Career Day.

Before Thanksgiving Bellwood-Antis participated in an exercise known as Career Day on Tuesday, November 20.

Career Day was an opportunity for teachers school-wide to teach their students about various career paths from the perspective of their unique class.

“I think it went pretty successful and the teachers did a very good job,” said guidance counselor Danielle McNelis, who planned and organized the event.

Under Pennsylvania’s state standards for career education, student must produce 8 “artifacts” reflecting career exploration by the time they graduate.

As a result, teachers had to seek certain ways to address careers in their class. In some classrooms, teachers discussed mock interviews, comparison of ancient Chinese occupations and today, and non-traditional jobs like Youtuber and gamer.

“Students will learn skills of how to pick a career and get a job to obtain a happy lifestyle of their choice,” said McNelis.
