Jake Burch passed for 150 yards and a touchdown in the Backyard Brawl.

Last year Jake Burch was a sophomore starting at quarterback. He showed potential and made mistakes.

This season Burch is planning to step up for his team.

“I’m only a junior, but by starting last year and going to all the off season practices I’ve gained a lot of experience,” says Burch.

Burch is a three-sport standout for the Blue Devils.  Now in his second year as the starter at quarterback for the football team he has also earned several letter in basketball and track and field.  He has lettered in  both of those sports since his freshman year.

On the football field, Burch feels confident with the amount of skill the Blue Devils have and his teammates have confidence in him.

“He isn’t a very vocal leader but leads more by example,” stated senior Dallas Huff.

Burch’s stats last year were good.  He completed 67-of-104 passes for 1,011 yards & 9 touchdowns. He feels confident with amount of skill the team has.

The relationship with his receivers got stronger over the summer by going to passing leagues, summer workouts, and he trusts them to do well this season.

Burch says he plays because it’s been in his family, and it’s what he knows.
