Dallas Hollen was one of only three Blue Devils to get hits against Bishop Guilfoyle.

Last week the Bellwood-Antis baseball team’s season came to an end as they fell to Bishop Guilfoyle, 9-2 in the District 6 2A semifinals.

Alex Schmoke, Dallas Hollen, and Trentin Whaley each added one base hit for the Devils but it was not enough to advance the Devils to the next round.  They were the only three hits the Devils could muster against BG starter Danny Carrieri.

“The 2019 baseball season unexpectedly ended abruptly; however, this year’s team shouldn’t hang their heads because they had a good season: finished once again with a winning record, finished in second place in our league. Finished in the final four of districts and had four players represented in the ICC all-stars… John Kost, Alex Schmoke, Travis Luensmann, and Nick Plank,” said Head Coach Steve Conlon.

The Marauders took a big jump in the second inning, putting up 4 runs, and then again in the third inning as they added another 5 runs. In the top of the second inning the Devils got a chance and put up two runs, but fell short every inning after that, and as the game came to an end the Devils walked away from their 2019 season.

BA will be losing three major seniors this year: Alex Schmoke, Caden Nagle, and Trentin Whaley.  These 3 players played a key role in the Devils team this year, from Alex Schmoke playing shortstop and pitching, Caden Nagle pitching, and Trentin Whaley playing the outfield.

“Unfortunately, we lose three seniors who have been heavy contributors to our success these past few years, but on a positive note, we have a solid group of returners who will be hungry to get back to work and achieve our number one team goal:  compete in the district title,” said Head Coach Steve Conlon.
