B-A senior Cameron Wood ran for 179 yards and five touchdowns in the Devils’ win over Moshannon Valley.

Two weeks ago, Bellwood played Tyrone in the annual Backyard Brawl and BA sadly lost that game.  The players, along with everyone else went home upset.

But, have no fear, because last Friday at Memorial Stadium, Bellwood was on fire!  The Blue Devils beat Moshannon Valley by a score of 48-29.

Senior Cameron Wood led the offensive explosion with 5 touchdowns and 179 yards on 13 carries.  He also caught a touchdown pass from Kyler Lardieri.

Wood’s rushing touchdowns came on runs of 80, 8, 12, and 15 yards, and he caught a 25 yard pass from Kyler Lardieri just before halftime.

“I thought that it’s always hard to lose the first game so I think we practiced a little harder. We wanted to get the win.  We have more momentum to go forward and win more games,” said Wood.

The players knew from the start that there was a difference from the game two weeks ago to last Friday.

“Our defense stepped it up, and because our line blocked well we were able to give Cameron more yards.  He was able to find holes and make good runs,” said senior Trenton Creppage.

“The win was big because not only is it our first win, but it’s our first win in the ICC, and it was the home opener,” added senior Zack Mock.

B-A jumped to a quick lead, going ahead 28-7 by halftime, with Wood scoring three times in the first half.  Wood scored two more times in the third before the starters were pulled and Valley began to score.

“Cameron’s touchdown catch really helped, especially coming at the end of the half,” said Mock.  “It gave us a lot of momentum.”

BA’s record is now 1-1 and 1-0 in the ICC.  The Devils play West Branch on Friday.
