The 7th & 8th grade Reading Competition took third place honors at the Fall Meet.

What is Reading Competition? It’s when a student in any grade from the middle school joins a team and then reads as many books as they can in a limited amount of time. Once a book is read, the students study questions about it to get an idea about how some of the questions are going to be asked at the meet. Finally, the students go to a competition and get asked various questions about the books they read. They receive points based on answering them them correctly.

This past fall the BAMS 7th and 8th grade team had their first competition of the season in Bellwood. The team members read 30 books starting in September. They competed against 22 teams and ended up earning a third place finish!

“They worked hard and I am looking forward to another successful competition in the spring,” said Mrs. Nycum, 7th grade Reading teacher and adviser of the team.
