The Bellwood/Tyrone co-op girls soccer team played Huntington on Monday evening. They sat at a 1-1-1 record looking for a win after their 2-2 tie with Central.

The game went back and forth as it was tied at the half and at the end of regulation. With the game knotted up at 2-2 in overtime, Bellwood freshman Lainey Quick broke the stalemate with her first varsity goal.

“I actually didn’t know that I scored at first because the sun went in my eyes,” said Quick. “Once I felt my teammates hugging me, I knew that we had won and I was really excited.”

This was a clutch goal to give the lady Eagles their second victory of the season. The overtime thriller seemed to boost the spirits of the entire team.

“I feel as though my team is playing more confidently now,” Quick explained. “Our team goals are to have more wins than losses, and to be District 6 champs.”

The Lady Eagles turn their focus towards Bald Eagle as they look to put up another win.
