Congratulations to Andy Miller and Raela Zuiker on auditioning and getting accepted into this years virtual fest with the PMEA District Band! This will be the second year attending attending the music festival Zuiker and the third for Miller.
Last February Miller and Zuiker attended Districts at Everett.
Area High School. Being accepted is a huge accomplishment for both and they are continuing to move forward.
Zuiker plays the clarinet and Miller plays the euphonium.
“I’m proud that my student were excited to keep practicing and still achieve success despite all our 2020’s disruptions and uncertainties,” said band director Mr. Patrick Sachse. “Although I will miss the live festival format, I’m also excited that unique opportunities were created for this year’s festival.”
This year’s festival will take place at Hollidaysburg Area High School and the organizers have planned a special event despite the limitations imposed by COVID-19 safety guidelines. Dr. Matthew Arau will be the opening speaker, and the featured conductor/clinician is world-renowned composer and educator Robert W. Smith.
District band students will have the chance to attend masterclasses with some of the top music educators from Pennsylvania, including Dr. Bill Stowman and Dr. Jason Worzbyt.
After attending the festival, students will have two weeks to record the music they have learned, for it to be synchronized digitally and produced for family and friends.
