BMOC: Junior Nic Mallory

Star defender on Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis soccer team is October’s Big Man on Campus

Junior Nic Mallory has been playing soccer for 13 years. He started playing soccer with the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) and says he’s never known anything else.

He continues to play because it keeps him in shape.

Now, Mallory plays with B-A’s rival, Tyrone, on the Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis co-op varsity team. They are currently 5-7 with, Mallory posting 1 goal and 8 assists. He also plays indoor soccer at the Summit and in Phillipsburg.

Mallory believes there is a potential for soccer at B-A.

“We have a junior high team now and they can work their way up. Due to the World Cup, more people are watching and want to see the US do better,” Mallory said.

Teammate Jake Shade said, “He’s a positive, optimistic teammate that works hard and always has something funny to say. He is an animal on the field and he gets everyone fired up before the game and leads the defense.”

His goals for his junior and senior year are to make it back to the district finals. Mallory also has plans to go to college and would like to play soccer there but would rather focus on his education.
