Computer applications teacher Mrs. Auberzinski said she never thought she would be back at her old school.
Lucky for B-A students, that’s just where she is.
Mrs. Auberzinski, a 2010 Bellwood-Antis grad, accepted the vacant computer applications job once held by Mr. Gabrielson.
“It feels great! I have been wanting to work at Bellwood for many years, so getting a full time job is very exciting,” said Mrs. Auberzinski. “When I was student teaching, my 7th and 8th graders are now my 9th and 10th graders in high school. It was awesome to see them again and see how much they have changed since middle school.”
Grand Canyon University was the University that Auberzinski graduated from. She then student-taught at Bellwood with Mr. Androkovich, the 7th and 8th grade History teacher. Her degree made her especially prepared for the times in which we live.
Mrs. Auberzinski stated, “It was 100% online other than my practicum and student teaching experience, so I feel like it really prepared me for when we fully went virtual.”
Her certification was originally in social studies.
“Since then, I have added Pk-12 Library Media Specialist and I am planning to add Business Education to my certification before the end of the school year,” she said.
Mrs. A took a long route to the teaching career, originally opting for a career in the medical field.
“When I was a student at Bellwood, I was unsure of the path that I should take. I knew that I really enjoyed history and social studies, but was nervous that I would never find a job as a teacher,” said Mrs. A. “I originally went down the path of nursing because that’s what everyone was telling me I should do. While in nursing school I dreaded every day! I remember at the wound clinic I passed out 3 times! I knew it wasn’t going to be something I could do as a career. After some time working with children at the daycare here in Bellwood, and praying a lot, I went back to my original plan of being a teacher. Starting something new was scary and exciting! I took the long path, but now I can say I am where I want to be. Long story short, if you want something in life, follow your intuition. If you work hard anything is possible! It sounds cheesy but it’s so true.”
Mrs. Auberzinski now teaches at the same school as her daughter, who is in 8th grade this year. Mrs. Auberzinski is excited to have her daughter next year in Computer Apps 1.
“If she misbehaves, I can ground her on the spot!” Mrs. Auberzinski adds.
Needless to say, Mrs. Auberzinski is excited to be back at Bellwood, but teaching this time. She is loving the way the students and faculty are treating her already and hope it stays like this the rest of the year. She hopes to have the rest of this school year be entirely successful.
