Hailee McConnel passed out her 500th career assist last night.

A week ago it didn’t feel like junior Hailee McConnel was going to be reaching career milestones any time soon.

Since last Wednesday, Hailee, along with teammates Abby Watters and Lydia Worthing – all essential members of the Bellwood-Antis volleyball team – were home on quarantine after being contact traced.

All three returned to the court last night with a vengeance as the Lady Devils won on the road over Glendale in straight sets.

B-A won 25-23, 25-17, and 25-16 to take down the Lady Vikings. In the process, Hailee earned a special achievement by handing out career assist No. 500.

“It feels great because I only started setting at the end of last year,” said Hailee, “so it’s a big deal for me.”

Hailee had 18 assists last night to go along with 13 digs. Most of her generosity went to Worthing, who had 14 kills.

“Lydia gets most of my assists, but they all work well to get the ball to me to set it up,” Hailee said.

Lexi Lovrich turned in a stellar defensive game with 13 digs.

The Lady Devils improved to 13-2.
