Pat Cassidy has stepped down after three seasons coaching the Blue devil basketball team.

Bellwood-Antis boys’ head basketball coach Patrick Cassidy has resigned after three seasons with the Devils. Coach Cassidy held a meeting with all returning basketball players over the weekend and told them he will not return next season.

The Bellwood-Antis School District central office sent out an email to staff today announcing that the varsity boys basketball coaching job was open for any current employees who would like to apply.

In his three years with the Blue Devils, Cassidy held a record of 32-34 with his best season coming in 2020-21.

This year saw the team go 10-13 overall, and 8-6 in ICC conference to earn a  5th seed in district playoffs. Bellwood made the playoffs all three years under Cassidy but was unable to claim any postseason victories.

Cassidy had come to B-A in 2019 replacing Kevin Conlon.

The BluePrint will have more on this story as the week progresses.
