Bellwood-Antis fell Friday in Houtzdale with a disappointing loss to Moshannon Valley, 20-12.

The Blue Devils entered the game 5-2 coming off of 2 wins. Moshannon Valley had a record of 3-4.

In  a standstill first quarter, neither team was able to find the end zone. Moshannon Valley was able to come up with a fumble and held the Blue Devils to a few yards in the first.

Bellwood-Antis finally found the endzone with a 9-yard pass from quarterback Gaven Ridgway to tight end Eli Pluebell putting the Blue Devils up 6-0. Moshannon Valley responded quickly with a 33-yard rush from senior Levi Knuth. That allowed the Black Knights to take a 7-6 lead to end the half.

Bellwood-Antis was only able to complete one pass in the first half. Bellwood put up over 150 rushing yards, though,  led mainly by Nick Kost and Gaven Ridgway.

However, B-A had a chance before halftime after it blocked a punt and took over deep in Moshannon Valley territory, but time expired before the Devils could score.

The Black Knights were able to score first in the second half with a pass from Kephart to Yarger. Immediately Yarger came up with a game changing interception to thwart  Blue Devil drive.

The 4th quarter started with another touchdown from Moshannon Valley on a rushing score from Kephart. From there Mo Valley had control and finished the game 20-12.

Head Coach Michael Keith said the Knights  are feeling great.

“Offensively we had to make plays when we had to,” he said. “The big stop before half time gave us the momentum to finish out the game strong. When you’re playing Bellwood you can never be comfortable and this time it came down to the wire.”

Head Coach Nick Lovrich gave Mo Valley credit.

“They made plays when they needed to. We will have to learn from our mistakes and get ready for next week,” he said.

Both Ridgway (147) and Kost (102) gained more than 100 yards on the ground.

Bellwood-Antis is now 5-3 and plays West Branch on Friday in Morrisdale.

Mo Valley is now 4-4 and plays Myersdale.
