Senior Staff Writer, Bailee Conway, was recently recognized for earning a runner-up award from the Dr. Jane Blystone Pennsylvania School Press Association Journalist of the Year contest.

Seniors like her are what keep the BluePrint strong every year – she is a talented writer and has a lot of pride in being a student at B-A

— Mr. Naylor

To be considered in the running, entrants must submit a portfolio of their work, write a self-analytical essay, and submit resumes, transcripts, and letters of recommendation. There are up to six runners-up awards granted each year, but the first-place winner for 2023 went to Evan Lu, of Conestoga High School.

“We found out about this award opportunity somewhat late in the game and it took a lot of effort on Bailee’s part to organize and submit all the requisite forms and letters,” quoted BluePrint advisor, Mr. Kerry Naylor.

With Bailee having to get several letters of recommendation on such short notice, it “shows how much respect she has around the school that there was no shortage of teachers willing to do that for her,” Mr. Naylor commented.

For her part, Bailee said to receive such recognition was “an honor.”

“I never thought I would be considered for an award like this and I feel very grateful that my journalism is getting recognized, and that I am improving my journalism skills throughout this year.”

The BluePrint staff is excited to recognize Bailee for this achievement, and Mr. Naylor said, “Seniors like her are what keep the BluePrint strong every year – she is a talented writer and has a lot of pride in being a student at B-A.”

Congratulations Bailee!
