Luke Hollingshead tells BluePrint about the meaning of couples Christmas.

Christmas gifts all depend on the wow factor and the value. No matter how old you get, receiving presents is always exciting!

However, the value of the gift shouldn’t be measured in money, but by the thought. Nothing demonstrates thoughtfulness more than a personalized Christmas gift from a loved one.

If you buy a gift that doesn’t necessarily have that fun factor, then it’s probably repugnant. Your family or friend receiving the gift will probably view you as the Ebenezer Scrooge of their Christmas.

To prevent this from happening take a look at what some B-A students and alumni have to say about their Christmas experiences!

BA alumnus Madi Steinbauer and senior Matt McMillan have been dating for a year and 3 months.

Last year, she bought him a signed Goo Goo Dolls framed picture and made him a box full of “open when” cards.

“I am still torn this year on what to get him,” Steinbauer said.

When asked if she had any advice for couples out there she said, “My advice is to make it thoughtful. Guys, don’t always go the jewelry route, get something that is of her interest. Girls, guys do like thoughtful gifts; make him something!”

On Christmas Madi & Matt exchange gifts and spend the day together.

Last year she got a couple thoughtful presents from him that she uses almost every day, and she could tell he paid attention to her interest!

Another B-A couple, freshmen Sidney Patterson and Trent Walker, also gave some details on their Christmas plans!

Being together for 6 months, they didn’t celebrate Christmas together last year!

Sidney plans to buy Vans and cologne for him this year.

“Buy your partner in crime something they can enjoy even after the holiday,” she said.

They plan on spending the holiday together and exchanging their gifts.

To Sidney Christmas is the time to devote to showing what she’s thankful for and all that she has!

Junior Luke Hollingshead has been dating sophomore Addison Clemente for 8 months.

Last year, Luke got her American Eagle clothes and a Fossil bracelet when the chorus was in Disney.

Even though he went the money route, he still thinks that sentimental gifts are the best. Advice he would give to students is:

“Never feel like a gift is enough. Christmas is a very special holiday, and mostly revolves around giving and receiving presents mostly. Sometimes all your significant other wants is to spend time with you. Never ever give a preset and except that to make his/her day. Make a memory with that person, be it building a snowman or playing with their dog or just watching TV and talking with his/her family. Make a memory that only just you two can share, something that you both will remember fondly. When it comes down to it, believe it or not, that is the best Christmas gift you could possibly give them,” he said.

Sophomore Haley McCloskey has been dating senior Aaron Mogle for a little over six months.

Her advice for shopping for guys is to get something that suits them and their tastes.

“We get each other gifts and just enjoy the holiday with our families,” she said.

“We normally only give gifts on very special occasions. Since Christmas and her birthday are three days apart, I plan on giving her a gift and trying to spend as much time with her as possible,” added Luke.
