Stop Bullying Day

Bark Against Bullying.

Sound familiar? Yeah, Bellwood’s promise to “stop” bullying. It’s probably been a long time since you’ve seen or heard that, hasn’t it?

Today is they day to bring back all those elementary school memories of saying the pledge every morning.

February 9 is Stop Bullying Day.

Here at school, at home, or even at work you need to take a stand for what’s right. Don’t let someone put you or anyone else down in any way, shape, or form.

Have you ever witnessed someone being bullied? Have you yourself been bullied? Don’t you wish someone would have stood up for you and told your bully to let you alone?

Now is your chance to be that person for someone else. Don’t let these things slide by, try to put a stop to them before they become a problem with a permanent solution.

Too many kids have fallen into the vicious cycle that is bullying and they might not see a way out. You could be that way they are looking for.

“But can’t they just tell their parents?”
“What if they just stand up for themselves?”
“Bullying isn’t even a thing anymore.”

If any of these went through your mind you need to take a minute and think about how you handle certain situations in your life.

But it’s not only in real life that someone can get bullied, the internet is just as bad. Cyberbullies thrive off sites with anonymous messaging options, instant messages, and social media sites.

Have you ever said something mean to someone over the internet? Anything like “Your hair looks gross” or “You’re so stupid” to anyone in a comment on Facebook? Twitter? Even Instagram?

That is the first step in the direction of being a cyberbully.

Whether bullies corner you in real life or they catch you online it doesn’t change the fact that they are bullies and they need to be put in their place.

Be brave, hold your head high, and do your best to keep them out of your head. And if you can’t manage, if you need someone to listen and you don’t feel comfortable going to anyone around you then you can check out this website.
