Bellwood is replacing the cafeteria! Their food turned out to be way too expensive for the school district. Luckily, the owner of the Gourmet Buffet, Joseph Guo, helped the school district out.
The decision came about after a recent board meeting discussing this year’s budget. The new laptops the elementary school provided have proved to have been too much of a struggle on the funding.
Bellwood, in a desperate attempt to recover their expenses, found out that the Gourmet Buffet was actually cheaper than our school lunches. The Gourmet Buffet, looking to expand, agreed to serve the students of Bellwood-Antis.
“I think it’s an awesome idea,” student Zach Gonzalez said.
Lunch prices will be a steal! Instead of the Gourmet Buffet’s reasonable price of $15, in the Bellwood-Antis cafeteria it will only be $7.
With the multitude of health concerns from the Gourmet Buffet, Bellwood will make sure that they only produce the utmost quality from both their food and cleanliness of the kitchen. The school district has had to almost completely overhaul the Gourmet Buffet’s system, with the sushi bar proving to be too much of a health hazard to be included.
Starting October 11th, the cafeteria will begin renovations to support the Gourmet Buffet’s vast variety of food. Construction will be finished by January 6th. Students will still be able to sit and enjoy their food in the cafeteria during this time.
