B-A senior Gavin McElwain has already started his career working in the HVAC field. He leaves school each day for his job and works upwards of 20 hours each week.
To many, high school is a time to focus on your education and wonder what job you want to get in the future.
For Bellwood-Antis senior Gavin McElwain, he’s already two steps ahead.
Gavin is currently employed Kimmen Plumbing and Heating, and he plans on sticking with it for a little bit after high school.
“It feels great to know I have a good job out of high school,” said Gavin.
Gavin actually leaves Bellwood-Antis at 11 Monday through Friday to begin his day at work. He typically puts in 20 hours each week, focusing on HVAC installation and service.
Gavin thanks his dad a ton for his success,
“He was the one that told me to get into HVAC because you learn a little bit of everything,” he said.
HVAC is a job that requires not only plumbing knowledge, but electrical and refrigeration skills too.
Once high school is over with, Gavin plans on living in the Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis area. He hopes after working at his job for a little while to get a traveling HVAC job, where he’ll be able to travel for a few days and then come home for the weekend.
