Students will have a chance to perform voluntary service at the school or in the community of B-A's fourth annual Day of Giving next Tuesday. Some of those activities include decorating teachers' classroom doors, like these students in a file photo from 2022.
The annual “Day of Giving” is coming up next Tuesday.
This is the fourth year of “Day of Giving” at Bellwood-Antis. It was a day originally created by the Renaissance Club as a way of using the last day before Thanksgiving Break in a positive and productive way.
The first Day of Giving happened in 2019, but it didn’t immediately pick up steam because of COVID. It has been going strong since 2022.
On this day all students have a chance to participate in school activities and community service.
There is also a Door Decorating contest that will be held to start the celebration of Christmas that same day as the Day of Giving. Students can sign up to decorate particular rooms, and the doors will be rated by a panel of judges in a contest.
The top 5 winners of the contest win a Chick-fil-A lunch right before Christmas break.
Other activities for Day of Giving include:
Blanket making
Making decorations for the hallways
Creating crafts for senior citizens
Cleaning up local trails
Volunteering at the Bellwood-Antis Library
Painting posters
Decorating the district office
Making cards for shut-ins, veterans, and children/patients in the hospital
Cleaning the playground at Myers
Decorating the hallways
