On Monday night, Bellwood-Antis went against the Central Dragons at home. The Lady Blue Devils won in a very close game, with a final score of 40-39. This is the second time this season that Bellwood-Antis played Central, and both times B-A came out on top.
A couple of players for the Lady Blue Devils stepped up in this much needed victory. Senior Leigha Clapper had 13 points, including her three three-pointers. Junior Lilly Gerwert had 11, despite getting in foul trouble early on in the game. Gerwert also had 11 rebounds, giving her a double-double.
This win put an end to the previous three-game losing streak B-A was on.
“It felt good to get the win,” Clapper said. “We played together really well and everyone contributed in different ways.”
Before this big win for the Lady Blue Devils, they traveled to Forest Hills for their game on Friday. This was not nearly as exciting of a matchup. Bellwood-Antis ended up losing 64-36. Lilly Gerwert had 18 points in this game.
After these two games, B-A is now 8-7 this season.
The Lady Blue Devils will play their next game at home against Bishop Guilfoyle on Thursday. The game will start at 6:30.
