After Bellwood-Antis had a 3-day break, students at the high school returned Thursday only to be sent home again due to a faulty boiler.
Students at BAHS arrived on time and quickly learned they would be going home sue to frigid temperatures in the school.
Despite the closure, most activities will continue like normal throughout the day.
One hundred fifty musicians 40 band directors from schools across the District 6 region were already on their way to Bellwood for PMEA District Band when the call was made to close school. Band Director Mr. Patrick Sachse reported that auditions for regionals and the concert will go on as planned with the possibility of moving to the elementary school.
The concert is scheduled for Friday.
“If the heat returns in time, we will eventually rehearse as normal.” Mr. Sachse said.
Mock trial, which had a practice schedules for today, has been rescheduled to Friday due to this closure.
CTC students are still going strong for afternoon classes, as well.
According to acting Athletic Director Mr. John Garritano, the girls’ basketball game against Bishop Guilfoyle at the high school gymnasium is still on for tonight.
Students have already had 2 FID days this week due to subzero temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday after having Monday off for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
