The Lady Blue Devils went against the Central Dragons for the third time this season. The game was played at Central, and Bellwood-Antis secured the win. The final score ended up being 55-46.
The top performer for B-A was junior Lilly Gerwert, who had a very impressive 27 points and 13 rebounds. 16 of her points were scored in the first half. Gerwert also made nine of her 10 free throws. Freshman guard Karlie Sweigert also stepped up big with a new career-high of 12 points.
This is the third win Bellwood-Antis has against Central this season.
Early on in the game, the Lady Blue Devils suffered an injury from one of their starters, Jenna Norton. Norton experienced a leg injury in the first quarter.
Central never gave up in this game. They hit a total of 10 3-pointers as a team, seven of them being in the second half.
Prior to their win against Central, the Lady Blue Devils went against the Hollidaysburg Lady Tigers on Monday night. B-A lost the game, with a final score of 59-33. Bellwood-Antis had a difficult time offensively and defensively in this one. The score at halftime was 43-11.
The top scorer for the Lady Blue Devils was senior Leigha Clapper, who had 10 points on the night. Freshman guard Karlie Sweigert also contributed, scoring 7 points.
However, Hollidaysburg found their rhythm early on, which includes a 24-0 run in the second quarter. For the Lady Tigers, senior Bella Vent was the top scorer in this game. She had an impressive 24 points. Out of her total 24 points, 16 of them were scored in the first half.
This is the second time these two teams have played each other this season. Hollidaysburg won by a large margin both times.
On Friday, the Lady Blue Devils lost by a large margin to Central Cambria. The final score was 71-42.The top performers for B-A were junior Lilly Gerwert, who had 14 points, and senior Leigha Clapper with 11 points.
Central Cambria did a good job of spreading the ball around, where they had 5 different players scoring at least 10 points.
After these three games this past week, the Lady Blue Devils now have a record of 9-10 this season.
The next game for Bellwood-Antis will be played at home against Huntingdon. It is also senior night for B-A.
“With it being senior night we are looking to get a lead early and not let our loss affect us,” Clapper said.
The game will start at 7:30.
