B-A hit the road to Huntingdon Wednesday night to take on the Bearcats hoping to find some answers for the offensive woes they’ve experienced this season. Through 18 games, the Devils were averaging a little more than 36 points per game.
But the Blue Devils struggles putting the ball in the hoop continued, as B-A fell behind early and was never able to recover from the deficit.
Bellwood-Antis lost its 19th game with a 53-29 final score.
The Bearcats opened the first quarter strong. Huntingdon’s offense got right to work putting up a 20 piece in the first.
The Blue Devils were kept to just nine points in the first half. Huntingdon was able to add 11 more to their total to bring the game to 31-9 at the half.
Bearcats’ Caleb Rutter and Elliot Guisler led the offensive charge. Rutter registered 15, and Guisler picked up 11.
Huntingdon continued their momentum out of the half. The Bearcats totaled 15 in the third and limited B-A to eight.
B-A’s Connor Mayes was the leading scorer with just six points. Holden Schreier secured six rebounds in the loss.
Mayes felt the Devils failed to execute what the coaches had prepared them for.
“We didn’t buy into coach’s game plan, and we had a tough time scoring,” Mayes said.
Huntingdon was able to close out the game with a win. Bellwood-Antis however outscored the Bearcats 12-7 in the fourth. B-A dropped to 0-18 after the 53-29 loss.
The boys now travel to Philipsburg-Osceola on Friday where they will take on the Mountaineers at 7:30. The Mountaineers are 4-15 on the year.
