The Blue Devils have had their fair share of struggles on both sides of the ball. However, Friday night B-A traveled to Philipsburg-Osceola and put it all together to pick up their first win. The boys reached a pair of season highs after finding some momentum early on and running with it.
Bellwood-Antis won with a 60-50 advantage to get into the win column.
The first quarter kept the game close. It was back and forth offensively with both teams going shot for shot. B-A went into the second with a 14-13 lead.
The offense settled down before heading into the half. The Blue Devils landed a few crucial shots to give them a 22-18 advantage going into halftime.
The boys had multiple double digit scorers in the win most notably Holden Schreier. Schreier lead B-A’s offense by registering a career high 30 points. Martin Fatzinger and Colin Gibbons both added 10.
“It felt good to finally get a win and get into a groove personally,” Schreier stated. “Once my first shot fell, I was able to keep building off of that for the rest of the game.”
The Blue Devils came hot out of the gates in the third. B-A scored a season high 18 points in the quarter. The Mountaineers Lucas Peterson threw up a prayer from nearly full court to end the quarter at 40-33.
P-O’s Connor Matier registered 13 points followed by Peterson’s 9 in the loss.
The boys then outdid themselves again totaling a new season high with 20 points in the fourth quarter. The Mountaineers offense fired back with 17 points, but B-A’s offensive surge was too much for P-O to overcome. This brought the game total to 60-50.
The boys now travel to Juniata Valley Monday where they will take on the Hornets at 7:00. The Hornets are currently 8-11 on the season.
