The Leadership Blair County Youth (LBCY) has invited ninth grade students to apply for their program. The program is a 9-month program that helps guide teenagers to leadership skills, self-confidence, and public speaking skills. All while learning these skills you will also be learning more about Blair County and ways to make a difference in the community.
Over this 9-month program, you will meet once a month, as well as an overnight retreat for the first meeting. Students can apply for the program through applications online. The class size is limited to 24 participants, which are chosen throughout all of Blair County public schools, as well as Bishop Guilfoyle and catholic high school. After participants finish the program, they participate in a graduation.
LBCY is designed by their adult program, as well as led by a committee of graduates form the program.
Some of the participants in our school right now: Holden Schreier, Johanna Heckman, Cooper Lovrich, Maddalena Pulcincello, Luke Gurekovich, Braylon Litzinger, Alex McCartney, Olivia Rishel, and Noah Gulvas.
This program is centered around the S.E.R.V.E model leadership. Each of the sessions will deal with various topics that affect the teens in our community and in our society. The program is also based off of the 7 habits of highly effective teens model.
The program does not require a cost to participate! The program is funded through the Blair County chamber foundation, as well as continued sponsorships and grant monies.
