B-A’s baseball team hasn’t been able to pick up the pace in their first recent events, and their troubles continued last Thursday with a 11-9 loss at Central Cambria.
The Blue Devils traveled to Red Devils, where they would continue a losing streak that grew to to 4. As the Red Devils may remember, B-A crushed them last season, 8-3. The Blue Devils got a taste of their own medicine for sure, dropping their record down to 4-7.
Despite getting that bad taste in their mouth, there was a pair of players that really stood out and made the most of their games for B-A.
Catcher Camden Swogger has played phenomenal for B-A this year. Over 11 games, halfway through the season, Swogger has already acquired more homeruns, more doubles, and more RBI’s than last season. His personal success continued last Thursday, when he went 4-for-4. He would come around to score on 3 separate times while also smacking two doubles and an RBI. Mr. Swogger has really improved this season and has become a predictor of B-A’s success, considering when he posts at least 2 runs the team is 3-1.
As for shortstop Chase Plummer, he has done nothing but produce for B-A this year also. Over the past three games, Plummer holds the highest batting average on the team at .600. He also crushed a homer this season, along with a couple other players.
This past Thursday, Plummer went 3-4, knocking in 2 RBI’s, crossing the plate twice, and also delivering a big triple to the fence.
Matt Berkowitz also showed his skills a bit at the dish, going 2-4, crossing the plate and also driving in 2 runs.
B-A will hit the road Monday, as they will travel to Martinsburg to take on the Central Dragons. The Dragons are currently 10-4 and they will be coming off a fresh win over Penn Cambria. Central has been hot, so we’ll see what Bellwood does to contain and ultimately rise over the Dragons.
