A small group of Bellwood-Antis seniors have their careers practically started already after wrapping up award-winning stays at the Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center.
On Thursday, May 8, the GACTC held its annual senior’s awards banquet, to recognize the outstanding work the seniors have put in over the last three years. The GACTC hosted families and friends of students for a catered meal, which was made from the GACTC Culinary Arts program.
Three Bellwood-Antis seniors receive special awards: Liam Maule, Katelyn Brallier, and Gavin McElwain.
Liam won the Blair County Antique Car Club award in his program of Automotive Technology.
“I put in a lot of work for this and I’m very proud I could achieve this award,” he said. “I feel lots of students could do this if they were willing to put in the work.”
Gavin won the Senior of the Year award for HVAC repair.
“I wasn’t expecting to get Senior of the Year, but I am happy that I did,” Gavin said.
Gavin has already begun his career in the business. He spends half of his school day working in the field for Kimmen’s Plumbing and Heating.
Katelyn won Dental Clinician of the Year, as well as the Reliance Bank scholarship.
“I’m really blessed that I was able to have this opportunity and grateful to have my teacher helping g me achieve my goals,” said Katelyn.
All three students graduated from CTC on Tuesday, May 20.
Congratulations to these Bellwood seniors!
