Kindergarten teacher Mr. Pete Harry plans to start making more content for his YouTube channel “Harry Kindergarten Music” this summer.
“It’s doing great. It is still a hot-spot for teachers to find free videos for their classrooms,” he said.
His YouTube channel has seen tremendous growth since September 2014, the last time the BluePrint ran a Feature Story on him.
Back then, his channel had 70 million views and more than 73,000 subscribers. Recently, his channel got up to 302,000 subscribers with many more views. This video from 2023 garnered more than 230,000 views.
Mr. Harry has is almost at the end his nineteenth year of teaching kindergarten. He said he decided to teach because of the influence of all of his own mentors when he was growing up.
”I wanted to be ‘for future students’ what my teachers were for me,” he says.
As 2025 winds down, Mr. Harry has already started look forward to next school year. He has met the students that will be in his class due to “Kindergarten Signing Day”. This offered a variety of different stations throughout the school for kids to have a chance interact with the Kindergarten teachers and take a look around the school to see what’s in store for next fall.
Although he doesn’t start to prepare until this school year ends, he will spend quite a bit of time preparing things in advance over the summer.
“I find that many people don’t realize the exorbitant amount of hours teachers spend most of the summer getting ready for school,” he said.
Mr. Harry has a unique teaching style that still sticks with students today.
“I remember having a lot of fun in his class,” said current B-A freshman Jayden Himes. “His teaching style really helped me improve. I also remember being able to use his ‘Harrybucks’ for a class shop.”
Outside of teaching, he spends a lot of time with his family, reading, and enjoying nature photography.
