Minecraft: build your own world

Minecraft is a construction adventure game made in 2009 by Notch Persson. It’s popular because it is a game where there is no story line, rules to follow, or points or things you have to do before moving on. Minecraft is a free play game where you are free to do and play how you want. Using the blocks provided you can make your own world by building houses and making cool creations. Minecraft has become very popular over the years with millions of gamers. It also has become popular with fans over the internet, with thousands of “let’s plays”, blogs, pictures, animation projects and websites. The game also has many products like t-shirts, stuffed toys, action figures witch you can buy and have at home as you’re very own.

Minecraft is a friendly game for ages 10 and up.  It contains no blood or gore. You can kill the creatures in the game but all they do is simply disappear and leave behind some meat or object that they had on the ground where they died, and you don’t see the destruction. Same with the players: if a player is killed by a monster or another player it will drop everything it has in its inventory and unless you go back to the spot you died to reclaim your stuff after you spawn again, your stuff will disappear and be lost. The creatures in the game are not frightening looking, or scary (unless the player is easily frightened, the monster startled you, or under the age limit for the game.)

In Minecraft there are many creatures. You can have your own pets and animals to play with, ride, and take care of, such as dogs who will protect you from the monsters and follow you no matter where you go; cats who scare off creepers, keep you company, and can provide you rabbit meat and hides. They will destroy your gardens if you are not careful; horses which you can tame and ride; pigs which you can ride if you put a saddle on them and steer them with a carrot on a stick and provide pork; cows which can provide you with milk, hides, and beef; chickens which provide you with chicken and feathers; squids that live in the water and ocean; sheep that provide you with wool and mutton (which also was added in the 1.8.0 update). Build your own machines, roller coasters and lights. Fight the monsters that spawn in the night such as creepers that blow up if you mess with them, zombies, skeletons that shot you with a bow and arrow, slimes, e.c.t.

Minecraft has two modes,  creative and survival. In creative mode you are given all the objects, blocks, and animals that you can place freely without having to collect or make them. Monsters will not hurt you but you can still hurt them as well as the animals. Survival mode is a different story. In survival you have to collect, craft, kill animals and monsters for food and objects. It can be a bit scarier considering you can get killed monsters or other players, but nothing truly violent.

Minecraft is a fun game where you can use your imagination to make your own adventure and play how you want to play. You can make, discover, explore, fight, and build all in your very own instruction-free world.
