The Bellwood Antis Mini-Thon kicked off its fundraising incentives this month, and they plan on continuing it by canning during tonight’s volleyball game at the high school gymnasium.
The Lady Blue Devils’ volleyball team will play Tyrone tonight in the Backyard Brawl, which is shaping out to be a pretty exciting matchup. It is also a gold out game, so fans are encouraged to wear gold.
On Friday, September 12, Mini Thon kicked off its fundraising for the year during the home football game against Central by opening its canning drives. These are simply fundraisers where donations are collected in cans and counted later by Thon committee members.
“I think it’s important we give awareness to the fight against childhood cancer with the gold out games,” said Mini-Thon advisor Mr. Shawn Hallahan. “Because September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and one of the way we bring awareness is by canning our gold out games.”
The Mini-Thon committee has established a lofty goal for this year, aiming to raise $30,000, which will be donated to the Four Diamonds and the fight against childhood cancer.
Mini-Thon’s fundraising efforts culminate February 27, 2026 with Mini-Thon finale and dance, where the final totals will be revealed.
Last year’s efforts raised more than $25,000.
