Bellwood-Antis senior Madolyn Kenner has committed to Penn State Altoona to major in nursing.

Kenner is planning to work for at least 2 years in an ICU, then go back to school to become either a nurse anesthetist or nurse practitioner.

When asked about her college outlook she said, “I’m excited to start a new chapter in my life. I am really excited to be at a smaller campus under the name of a large university. The smaller class sizes will help me a lot.”

Penn State Altoona is one of 13  branch campuses of Penn State University. Its website explains that “Penn State Altoona offers the appeal of a small college with the prestige of a major research University, helping you reach your educational, personal, and professional goals.” The campus is located in the Ivyside section of Altoona near Juniata Gap.

Penn State Altoona costs around $15,000. To save money Kenner will be commuting.

“I am planning on commuting since the school is a very close distance from my house,” she stated. “It will save me a lot of money.”
