You most likely have had a taco at some point in your life, but there’s no day better to have another than today.
October 7 is National Taco Day.
This day is to honor the endless versatility of the delicious taco that we all love.
Tacos originated with indigenous people in ancient Mexico who they wrapped meat fillings in maize tortillas. However, the word taco likely emerged from the silver mines and was used to describe gunpowder wrapped in paper used to blow holes in rocks. The practice was called “taco” in the nineteenth century.
There are many types of tacos like hard shell, soft shell, ground beef, chicken, fish, shrimp, and many others because there are so many combos and toppings that could go on them.
Some of the best best places to get tacos locally are la Fiesta, El Campesino, and of course Taco Bell.
Fun Fact, did you know that Americans eat around 4.5 billion tacos a year, which is the sameĀ amount that Mexicans eat in a year, so just those two countries alone they consume nine billion tacos a year. Also, on average, Mexicans consume at least one taco a week, so that ads up.
