Collin Matthews has verbally committed to Waynesburg University to run in track and field.

Waynesburg University, a Division III school, is located in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania.

Matthews has been a part of the track and field distance team at Bellwood-Antis for four years. He is planning to run distance in college, but will specialize in the mile and the eight hundred.

“I worked for over four years to be able to commit and be good enough for the collegiate level so its just good to see all that hard work pay off,” he said.

Matthews knows the challenges ahead with college. But he is ready to face those challenges head on.

“It’s a new, scary experience that makes me a little nervous,” he stated. “I’ll be a little over two hours away so it is like starting kindergarten again. But I am excited to make new friends, it should be easy for me.”

Matthews is planning to major in Sports Media.

This was another big reason Waynesburg stood out to Matthews.

“It is one of the top schools in PA for Sports Media, the campus is super pretty, and faith is a big culture. God is something I base my life around so it was a no brainer for me.”
